I have wasted thousands of dollars on countless $200 highlights to get my hair blonde. Not to mention many teary-eyed trips to the drug store and walks of shame to a color specialist in order to have my fried hair dyed back to brown after attempting blonde at home. I had golden blonde hair as a child but, like almost every mortal woman, it turned to a mousy brown. In tone it lies somewhere between light and medium brown. I have probably tried 25 different shades of at-home hair color, by all different brands, and almost all of them have made my hair a bright brassy orange. The ones that haven't left me completely devoid of color (a kind of porn-star washed out blonde). Highlighting by very good (i.e., expensive) salons have worked for me, but I still find it looks obvious - I get the sort of highlighted, streaky blonde look that every woman in mainstream America seems to be rocking. I used this product today, Perfect 10, 8.5a Medium Champagne Blonde and results were great. I pretty much put it on my roots then ran it down about half of my hair. It blended well with my current color and the result color was pretty much a medium blonde with no orange. I used the conditioner that it comes with and it conditions really well. I really love this color. It's a nice blondish color. Only problem is it didn't cover the grays. Want to use it again or find another 8.5a or 9a that can cover grays too. I'm afraid if I go with a color specifically for gray hair the results won't be the same or the color will end up dull, etc. Tip for blonde hair: as many of you out there may know, the ashes and the neutrals are the best way to go to get a blonde without ending up orange. Initially, it works well. Covered the grays and it was a nice color. But after a few days the color started to fade at the roots, and by the end of two weeks, all the gray was showing. So, I am going back to the regular Nice N Easy. |
